Last month I was invited to provide hair and makeup services for model Gemma – on a styled shoot for The Montagu Arms Hotel, and their new wedding brochure. I was delighted to get involved as I regularly provide my services to brides getting married here, and simply love this venue. The brief was ‘Autumnal Bride’ so I decided to use smokey browns, with delicate glitter and a pink burgundy lip.

I love doing editorial makeup for blogs and magazines. It’s a total buzz on the day of shooting. Often starting in the very early hours of the morning (it’s not uncommon to have a 4am start!) I get such a high knowing I am working with the very best in the industry. And I have had the most amazing opportunities to work on some gorgeous high profile ad campaigns, TV productions and Films. And of course, getting to create some utterly stunning makeup designs for some of the most beautiful women around the world. One of which is Sophie Waldron – one of the most sought–after model’s in the industry at the moment. Below is an image by photographer Matt Lee, with myself on wardrobe/lighting assistance and makeup! Sophie is such a professional and has such an inner strength she’s just incredible.
I often get asked what is the difference between bridal & editorial makeup? The difference really stems from what sort of conditions we will be shooting in, what look the photographer/ director/producer would like and what elements the model will be going through. So for example, on our ‘beach babe’ shoot I knew Sophie would be in full sun, possibly in the water and with a good deal of sand! So I knew she would physically need something with a high coverage and plenty of touch ups. Bridal makeup is completely different in this aspect – yes I know some clients need a little more coverage due to potential breakouts/excess oil etc but generally speaking bridal makeup is a lot softer and lighter.
What do I like to do most – bridal or editorial makeup? Bridal has, and will always be, my most favourite thing to do. There is nothing quite like the morning of a wedding to make you feel good about the human race! But I like to mix things up occasionally if nothing else but to strengthen my skills as a makeup artist.

Last Monday I had the very wonderful privilege of organising a styled shoot for a new wedding venue in the New Forest. Hale Park is a privately owned country estate in Fordingbridge that is poised to host all sorts of grand events including weddings. There is even the local village church in its grounds!
Charlotte Wise and myself wanted to create a very feminine and delicate styled shoot for Hale. Using the stunning grounds as our playground and backdrop. We think it has a very french chateaux appeal and we hope you like it just as much as we do.
Look out for it when it goes viral soon! In the meantime, here are a few sneak peaks x

I am very excited to see our latest styled shoot featured on the very fabulous Want That Wedding wedding blog, launching today. I had so much fun organising this one and pulling my dream team together again to create something feminine, sexy and powerful. Something which I think we all need to celebrate and be reminded of now and again… we’re women and we have incredible strength.
“You know what’s really, powerfully sexy? A sense of humour. A taste for adventure. A healthy glow. Hips to grab on to. Openness. Confidence. Humility. Appetite. Intuition. … Smart-ass comebacks. Presence. A quick wit. Dirty jokes told by an innocent-looking lady. … A storyteller. A genius. A doctor. A new mother. A woman who realises how beautiful she is”. ~ Courtney E. Martin
Watch my blog closely in the next few weeks as I’ll be revealing how I created model Jess’s sensual makeup design.

Firstly, sorry this has taken me so long to post! I know I promised this last week, but I got caught up in doing some gorgeous weddings and photoshoots so it kind of got put on the back burner… but today I’ve actually had some time to do tons of paperwork, book more clients in and post a couple of things! So here is how I created a design I call ‘Peaches and Cream’ for our Modern Romantic styled shoot, which currently featured on My Wedding Fair
I started off by creating a medium to deep smokey eye using browns that either had a slight cooper element, or were underlined by a peach tone. All of which were by MAC. I then lined the eyes in a brown soft kohl and blended to give a smooth edge, adding false eyelashes by KISS in Peony, I filled in the brows finishing the eyes. Moving onto the skin I used 2 sets of primers by Dr Brandt and Smashbox – to smooth and prep the skin for foundation. I used a combination of YSL Touche Eclat Foundation and Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation to give the skin a good coating. I then used a blusher by MAC in Peaches (of course) and bronzer by Bobbi Brown in Golden Light. To finish I used a Bobbi Brown lipstick in Coral Pink x
