Trinny London are all about portable makeup.  Whilst this is nothing new in the industry, I think the way they have marketed themselves and really pushed for all their products to be portable is refreshing.  They have considered what will give the maximum amount of colour, with the minimal amount of effort and take up only a small amount of space in a standard sized handbag?  I love the idea of this – not only is it better for the environment (as the pots are reusable) but also requires little skill in application, which is just perfect for everyday use.

My personal favourites are the pot blusher in ‘Fresh Flush Katja‘ and concealer ‘Miracle Blur



Drew Barrymore’s ‘Flower’ makeup range

Now FLOWER is making its way to Superdrug, with some products available on its website already.  The products are quite basic so perfect for everyday light use and at a very affordable price, as promised by their story and mission statement.  There are particularly good reviews for its Lift & Sculpt Contour Palette and Long Lasting Setting Spray.  Hopefully the full range will become available soon x

New to 2017 – lipstick upgrade available

This year I am offering a little something extra to all my bridal clients, which has been a bit of surprising success already…

For an additional £21 brides now have the option to ‘upgrade’ their package and obtain a premium branded lipstick. This includes sourcing a near perfect shade that may be out of stock, or no longer available.

I’ve already had quite a few enquiries for this, which is simply wonderful as I only put the details out at Christmas!

Preview of that Burley Manor Barn styled shoot…

Wow!  What a wonderful day yesterday was!

For a couple of months now I have been in the depths of organising a styled shoot at Burley Manor and Burley Manor Barn, located in the New Forest.  I knew exactly which local wedding suppliers I wanted to work with, to make my vision of a warm winter wedding styled shoot come together.  And boy, did they not disappoint!  Arriving all for 9am we began straight away getting to work on transforming the barn into a warm inviting place, along with getting Sophie our model ready with beautiful hair by Michelle Crosser and makeup by myself.  Once all ready, we then got Sophie into the first of two Victoria Kay wedding gowns from her 2017 collection available from Something Old Something New bridal boutique.  And began shooting in this gorgeous wedding venue – made possible by Gina their wedding co-ordinator at Burley.

The biggest triumph was Hayley from Sweetcheeks Bakehouse, who made us the most exquisite dessert table for our styled shoot.  Spending literally hours on perfecting every little detail – it was the star piece of the shoot.  We all had fun admiring it, and maybe having a sneaky taste or two – quality control of course!

We also had Joey from The Wild Fox and Tammy of Fundoo Weddings, providing us all with the most beautiful table decorations.  It really was not made possible without these two.  And of course, Az from Lemontree Photography providing us all with stunning photographs!!  Here are just a few to tease you! x

Rosie for Autograph…a new makeup line by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Next month we are filming again.  This time we are taking a world renowned model and her new makeup line as inspiration.  Who am I talking about?  Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.  Rosie’s beautiful looks and wonderful nature have won her many accolades, and now she has turned her passion for makeup into creating her own brand of products – with of course, her model approval.  Designing for Marks and Spencer and their Autograph range, Rosie has been able to craft a line that is uniquely brilliant and, most importantly, accessible for women.

So what I really want to do with the video is to take Rosie’s makeup look, and turn it into a wearable bridal design.  Whilst using her new line of products.  Easy!  Filming will be held at The Lightbox Studios and with model Chloe Lancaster x


Growing with the business…new website design

I’ve recently taken the decision to update & change the design of my website to what you now see.  Hopefully you’ll find it has more of a contemporary, simple feel with easy navigation and a nice clean look.  I’m finding more and more that as the business grows, so am I (cliche as it sounds!)  So I really just wanted to reflect that in the design and give it a more sleek finish.  I also wanted it to have an instant impact with wonderful photography from Lemontree Photography – from our most recent collaboration (hopefully the first of many) and have an interactive element with my bridal makeup video all prominent.  My client is always at the forefront of my thinking so I just wanted something relaxed and easy.

In the pipeline is an update of my logo design, which I am taking my time with to get right and many more photoshoots with my good friend Az of Lemontree Photography x

Why I don’t subscribe to ‘business jargon’

When I decided to divert into the wedding industry, I wanted to make sure that my way of doing business was completely open, fresh and not filled with any kind of ‘business jargon’ which I absolutely can’t stand!  Everytime I see something like “Transform your face into something amazing” or “Be remembered on your wedding day” I just cringe…for one thing you’re the bride, and of course you’ll be remembered!  And also any good makeup artist will know that makeup is not there to transform you into someone unknown & different, so that no one recognises you!  What’s more we should be celebrating our individuality and beautiful nature.  I for one don’t feel comfortable with using that sort of nonsense and clients just see right through it –  if someone likes my work, then they’ll hire me without the need for me to throw random empty lines at them!
