I have a major passion for editorial makeup and love to fully get onboard with a concept and style. It means another opportunity to travel and see beautiful undiscovered parts of the world, and sometimes surprisingly something on your own doorstep!

Editorial Makeup with Frances Moore MUA

I love doing editorial makeup for blogs and magazines.  It’s a total buzz on the day of shooting.  Often starting in the very early hours of the morning (it’s not uncommon to have a 4am start!)  I get such a high knowing I am working with the very best in the industry.  And I have had the most amazing opportunities to work on some gorgeous high profile ad campaigns, TV productions and Films.  And of course, getting to create some utterly stunning makeup designs for some of the most beautiful women around the world.  One of which is Sophie Waldron – one of the most soughtafter model’s in the industry at the moment.  Below is an image by photographer Matt Lee, with myself on wardrobe/lighting assistance and makeup!  Sophie is such a professional and has such an inner strength she’s just incredible.

I often get asked what is the difference between bridal & editorial makeup?  The difference really stems from what sort of conditions we will be shooting in, what look the photographer/ director/producer would like and what elements the model will be going through.  So for example, on our ‘beach babe’ shoot I knew Sophie would be in full sun, possibly in the water and with a good deal of sand!  So I knew she would physically need something with a high coverage and plenty of touch ups.  Bridal makeup is completely different in this aspect – yes I know some clients need a little more coverage due to potential breakouts/excess oil etc but generally speaking bridal makeup is a lot softer and lighter.

What do I like to do most – bridal or editorial makeup?  Bridal has, and will always be, my most favourite thing to do.  There is nothing quite like the morning of a wedding to make you feel good about the human race!  But I like to mix things up occasionally if nothing else but to strengthen my skills as a makeup artist.

Hale Park Styled Shoot, New Forest

Last Monday I had the very wonderful privilege of organising a styled shoot for a new wedding venue in the New Forest.  Hale Park is a privately owned country estate in Fordingbridge that is poised to host all sorts of grand events including weddings.  There is even the local village church in its grounds!

Charlotte Wise and myself wanted to create a very feminine and delicate styled shoot for Hale.  Using the stunning grounds as our playground and backdrop.  We think it has a very french chateaux appeal and we hope you like it just as much as we do.

Look out for it when it goes viral soon!  In the meantime, here are a few sneak peaks x

‘Luxe Botanical’ styled shoot, shot at Highcliffe Castle

Late last year I had the idea I wanted to do a luxe, botanical styled shoot – seeing this becoming a sure fire trend for 2017’s wedding season.  What resulted was above my expectations.  We had the most wonderful team, who put up with a very cold room in early January whilst we were shooting!  When thinking about a location for the shoot, what sprang instantly to mind was Highcliffe Castle.  I felt that Highcliffe (in particular the adeptly named Winter Garden Room) was a perfect choice for the styled shoot theme.  The large, long glass panels remind me of Kew Gardens – which fits in with the botanical style nicely.

We had beautiful gowns and shoes brought to us by Hannah, of Hannah Elizabeth Bridal Boutique, and custom made accessories by White Designs Bespoke Bridal Adornments.  The very green floral arrangements were by cutie Sophie Anderson of Flowers, With Wild Abandon (who we sent out to ‘kindly ask’ a gentleman to not stand by the windows – it was very funny!)  The epic stationary was by Peony and Rose, my go-to lady for all my stationary needs now.  And the banquet table decorations were by Tammy of Fundoo Weddings.  The exquisite cakes were by Hayley of Sweetcheeks Bakehouse.  The two hair designs were by Michelle Crosser of Bridal Hair in Hampshire, and the model was good friend Sophie Waldron of Bridge Models.  All of this was beautifully captured by Sam of New Forest Studio – who is possibly one of my most favourite wedding photographers.

And makeup by me!

Hope you enjoy x
