Bridesmaids!

🌺 A gorgeous bridesmaid design for Rebecca’s girl gang for her Spring wedding at Chewton Glen.  Rebecca wanted her girlies to have soft peach cheeks, a pink lip and delicately shaded eyes – which is a perfect combination to subtly tie everything together.  This design also worked well in matching their soft blue/grey bridesmaids gowns from Maid to Measure x

REPOST // Bridesmaid makeup design – keeping it young and fresh

I love doing bridesmaids makeup – although I do have to say there is a tendency for bridesmaid’s to ask for a deeply smokey eye and big brows for their wedding look.  While I do love a big brow & smokey design this look will not suit every occasion, and in some circumstances, will clash dramatically with their outfits.  An alternative which I think works really well is a nice light brown eye – neatly lined with a pencil that has a slight sparkle to it.  This just subtly brings the eyes out, whilst not detracting from the bride’s own makeup design.  It seems to always work for younger bridesmaids, as it keeps their glowing youth whilst giving them a little something extra.

Something which I have as my own personal ethos as a makeup artist is I will NEVER cover freckles up.  There are 2 reasons for this.  1)  Your freckles are apart of you and should be celebrated like everything else about who you are.  To cover them should be a criminal offence as freckles are super cute!  2)  Covering up freckles using foundation can result in the skin looking over-done and the foundation looking milky over them, so I vow never to do it!

Loose bridesmaid curls – a simple and pretty style

Throughout this Spring season I am finding that more bridesmaids (and brides for that matter) are favouring a more loose, beachy tousled style for the big day.  And I for one LOVE this design.  It’s relatively simple to achieve, a little time consuming, but the pay off is so worth it.  This sort of style does suit lighter hair as the layers are easy to distinguish and the waves are a lot more visible.  What’s also great about this look is that is it then very easy to put up into a half up half down twist – that way adding a comb or flowers is easy and very effective x

Young bridesmaid makeup looks…

This gorgeous bridesmaid was part of bride Sian’s wedding party last week and is a testament to how much fun it can be getting young adults involved in the morning’s preparation.  Patiently waiting her turn to be in the makeup chair she was very excited to have her makeup professionally applied and to, most importantly, feel a part of the festivities.  I love designing young bridesmaid looks as they often love pretty pinks, a bit of glitter and a pamper!

If you’re having young bridesmaids in your bridal party, then I highly recommend including them in hair and makeup – not just because you’ll all look gorgeous together, but it’s just really nice to include the young ones in a very exciting day x

Hayley and her glam wedding at The Elvetham Hotel

Yesterday was Hayley’s wedding and what a beautifully sunny day it turned out to be!  Hayley and her beau were preparing to get hitched at one of my favourite wedding venues The Elvetham Hotel – where I seem to be living at the moment!!  Hayley was sooo excited and such a happy bride that I had a job to pin her to the makeup chair, but I think she was actually happy for a bit of calm after organising everything first thing!

Hayley wanted her bridal makeup to be classic, timeless and flawless.  Opting for an expertly blended pink and peach toned eye – Hayley wanted to add a daring bold statement lip using MAC’s lipstick in Ruby Woo for a bit of Hollywood glamour.  Keeping her whole look generally soft and blended meant that the bold lip could be added without overpowering the look.  Hayley also wanted her bridesmaids design to be kept soft and light using mauves and shimmer through the eye with a pink lip in Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk x

Bridesmaid makeup designs…

It’s always lovely when I see the whole bridal party having fun in the morning.  Getting their hair styled and makeup applied, and really celebrating together those last few girlie moments before the festivities really kick off!  It brings back all those secret planning chats at the back of the class, discussing what wedding dress you’re going to wear or what flowers you want – even though you’re just 14!  So I always adore coming up with designs for the bridesmaids.

I like to design something similar to their gowns, as I know how much effort it takes to pull a colour scheme together so I want to work with that.  It’s also good to keep the makeup almost identical to each other to get a more unified look, where the eye isn’t constantly distracted by the different combinations of colour in photographs x

Rosie Bea – beauty blogger and false eyelash guru

Many of you already know, through reading this blog, that I am a complete advocate of the false eyelash.  When paired correctly and applied perfectly – I truly believe falsies can take a beautiful makeup design to the next level of awesomeness, so I am always on the look out for the next best false eyelashes on the market.  And I think I’ve found my next holy grail of lashes via beauty blogger and gorgeous red head Rosie Bea.

I am really blown over by these lashes at the moment – it’s not just the range of width and length, but also the wonderfully delicate (and easily disguisable) lash band which just makes it an absolute must for my brides.  These are also awesome to use on bridesmaids  I’ve already bought and used 50 pairs so that must tell you something! x
